Drag and Drop ALIs

Parent Previous Next

An organization might find a situation where they identify a cluster of costs in a single fiscal year. To spread the costs across fiscal years, TransAM lets you move ALIs from one fiscal year to another.

To move an ALI in a single year project:

  1. From the project planner interface, click and drag an ALI from its current fiscal year to a year in the future.
  2. TransAM will ask you to confirm that you want to Move the ALI. Click OK.
  3. TransAM will notify you it is working to update capital projects and ALIs.
  4. If a project already exists with matching properties (Scope, Type, SOGR, Shadow, Emergency, Single Year) the ALI will move to the comparable project. If no matching project exists, TransAM will create a new project that has equivalent properties to the 'parent' project (only differs by its fiscal year).

Note: When you move an ALI from one fiscal year to another, its corresponding shadow projects will also move based on the selected ALI changes.

To move an ALI in a multi-year project:

  1. From the project planner interface, click and drag an ALI from its current fiscal year to a year in the future.
  2. TransAM will ask you to confirm that you want to Move the ALI. Click OK.
  3. TransAM will notify you it is working to update capital projects and ALIs.
  4. You will see that the ALI has moved from the selected column to the dragged column.

Note: If you click and drag an ALI from its current fiscal year to a previous year, TransAM will ask for an explanation regarding why the change is being made. If you move the first sequential ALI in the project, the project number will update so that the fiscal year still accurately represents the project. (e.g. YCTA-20-21-111-879 will change to YCTA-18-19-111-879).

When an ALI is moved, several calculations take place so that updated asset and project costs are reflected across the project planner and unconstrained capital project list. When the number of moved assets is large (greater than 25 assets) this process might take a minute or two. Therefore, if more than 25 assets are moved, this process takes place as a background job. The project planner is locked from additional changes until the updates are completed to prevent conflicting updates. The Notifications Menu indicates when the job is complete, and you are directed to refresh the page to display updated data.
