Asset Types and Subtypes

Every asset in TransAM has a type (e.g., Revenue Vehicle, Support Facility, or Equipment) and a subtype (e.g., 40-Foot Bus, Administration Building, Electrical Equipment, respectively) in a hierarchy. The asset type-subtype relationship is the taxonomy that defines your inventory and dictates the attributes or data fields that exist for assets of that subtype. The exact asset types, subtypes, and data fields that you see will vary depending on how your deployment has been configured.

• If you click on the Inventory menu, the asset types in your inventory will appear in the top section of the menu. Hover over any one of the asset types to see a menu listing all the subtypes for that asset type.
• Choose Inventory->Add Asset to show the New Asset screen, and then look at the Asset Type menu. It lists all asset types (in bold) and subtypes in a single location.
• Many reports and charts also organize data by asset type and/or subtype. Choose My Organization from the User Menu, and then click the Asset Summary tab to see a pie chart of your assets by subtype.

System Administrators can edit the available list of asset types and subtypes through the Admin Interface.
